Turbomachinery, in mechanical engineering, describes machines that transfer energy between a rotor and a fluid, including both turbines and a turbine transfers energy from a fluid to a rotor, a compressor transfers energy from a rotor to a fluid. These two types of machines are governed by the same basic relationships including Newton's second Law of Motion and Euler's pump. Although the fluid initially approaches the rotor in an axial direction, the flow across the blades is primarily radial. Measurements indicate that the absolute velocity at the inlet and outlet are V 1 = 12 m/s and V 2 = 15 m/s, respectively. Is this device a pump or a turbine? 15 Example Solution1/2 U 1 =ωr.

Textbook of Fluid Mechanics by R K Bansal is a very popular book of Fluid mechanics for undergraduate students studying Mechanical engineering or other related.

this has great combination of both theory and numerical. book is also useful for student who is prepared for competition examination GATE, IES or any other. I had extensively used Fluid Mechanics by Streeter and Wiley.

Even though it is a little difficult to understand it initially, the problems in it are very engaging. Anybody willing to explore Fluid Mechanics further should definitely read this bo.

Fluid Machines (machines are energy conversion devices) are called Turbo-machinery which transfers energy between a fluid system and its mechanical system (e.g. rotor). Two primary categories of Turbo-machinery are: 1. Turbines which extract hydraulic energy available in a fluid and convert it into mechanical energy (power) to rotate a shaft.

This book is written to serve the needs of undergraduate students embarking introductory course in Fluid Mechanics and Machinery. This book consists of 5 units.

• Unit 1 broadly deals with fluid. Book Title: Centrifugal Pumps design’s and application Author(s): Robert R. Ross, Val S. Lobanoff Publisher: Gulf Professional publishing Edition: Second Pages: PDF Size: 36 Mb Book Description: Centrifugal Pumps design’s and application by Robert R.
